Quick Dollar Store Candle Makeover

Monday, December 8, 2014

This Christmas I wanted to add a little white birch to my Christmas decor and while I was cruising the aisles at Pier One I spotted this great birch embossed  wrapping paper. Immediately about twenty potential projects popped into mind. I started with wrapping it around my dollar store candles.

I used these dollar store holy candles, you can also find them at the grocery store.

Just measure the height and circumference of the candle, cut your paper to those dimensions and glue or tape the paper around the candle. I used double stick tape.

I sprinkled a little snow glitter around the top edge of the candles. After about ten minutes of crafting I had these pretty faux birch candles. The paper is very sturdy and realistic looking. The roll was only 7.00 bucks and it's 30" x 96".  I have a couple more projects I'm thinking of using it for.

I used these same candles to make  these  a couple of years ago. If you would like to see a few more dollar store projects click here and here, for one more go here. Thanks for stopping by. I'll be joining these fun linkups this week,

  2. That's so smart, Karen! The wrapping paper looks so realistic. A long time ago I order birch bark sheets from Ebay. So glad to know Pier One has something similar for a lot less.

  18. Thank you for such a fantastic idea! Pier 1 has the birch wrapping paper again this year, though the sales clerk tells me it sells out super fast. I'm very impressed with the quality; it almost feels like wallpaper! I'm enjoying my candles and they look quite nifty... Merry Christmas!
