Well I started my Christmas decorating early and ended late. We took a trip and I came home in a full blown flare up. I was only able to do a very minimal amount each day. I ended up scaling back my plans considerably. I'm grateful that I was able to accomplish what I did.The struggle was real folks, I'm late for every holiday link up but better late then never! So here's my living room and dining room dressed up a little for Christmas!
I used my tabletop tree again this year and placed it in a wine crate that I wrapped in the same birch wrapping paper that I used for my dollar store candles makeover. The cute fawn pillow was a H&M Home purchase.
I bought faux fur from the fabric store with the intention of making fur pillows, nope didn't happen, so I just draped the fabric over the back of my chair and called it a fur throw.
I put my dollar store Christmas house on the floor under my mora clock. I just like the way it looks with the tree and the clock.
Just another view of the sitting area, you can see my sad little paper whites struggling along. I just am not good with growing things indoors. My armoire will be moved to my bedroom someday and a DIY Trumeau will go behind my as yet unfinished settee.
A fast coffee table vignette using bottle brush trees purchased from Target, some trees that I bleached and flocked a couple of years ago, my snowy dollar store village and a thrift store bowl filled with mercury glass ornaments, feathers and a few sprigs of greenery.
Here's a close up of the wine crate wrapped in the birch paper and my white deer that started out a bright turquoise, it was a pretty color but the glitter was atrocious. I applied a coat of gesso to the turquoise glitter and then two coats of antique white paint, a light coat of snowy glitter and I liked it much better.
I ordered paper script ribbon from Decor Steals, it kind of reminded me of bark so I added it to the tree.It kind of ties in with the birch candles and planter.
I only used birds, nest, ribbon and icicles on the tree. Oh I also added white faux hydrangeas deep in the branches.
This is the vignette that I created on my buffet. I ordered the download for the print from Dear Lillie and had an engineer print made at Staples. The standing deer started out life the same as the one next to the tree. It got the same makeover. The sitting deer is a new purchase from Target.
A few close ups of the buffet vignette. The ice skates were made last year.
The repainted deer
I set the table using my mom's china, my everyday flatware and chargers that I purchased years ago from the dollar store.
The arrangement is a combination of real and faux greenery placed in a silver thrifted bowl.
The candle holders are all thrift store finds and the goblets were bought from the dollar store years ago. The vintage tablecloth was a Goodwill purchase a few years ago. It's tattered and mended in spots but I still love it.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope everyone has a blessed holiday season. Linking up late at these fun parties.

Karen, What a beautiful room you have there. It is just gorgeous and I can see that you have poured lots of love into it. I love your tree in the box -so pretty. Your whole room is so soft and serene.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I am so sorry that you had a flare. I know exactly what you go through and the importance of pacing yourself so that you can do SOMETHING but not overdo on ANYTHING.
Blessings to you- xo Diana
There are so many things I love about your beautiful decorating! The whites, the silvers, the neutral tones. And all the deer! I also love the houses, and what you did on the tarnished silver tray. So many great ideas. Thanks for showing us. Hope you have a blessed Christmas.

What a beautiful job you've done of making your home ready for Christmas. I too have health problems and started the season with lots of big ideas, eventually I realised that with my limitations I wasn't going to be able to manage half of them, but I guess there's always next year (or at least I hope so, lol)
ReplyDeleteLove everything you've done.
Merry Christmas

Karen, your home is beautiful and I love the theme you have for Christmas. I was scrolling back through a few of your posts, since I am a fairly new follower, and saw that you lost your beautiful little baby, Paris. I'm so sorry and know some of what you feel. We lost out wonderful golden, Buddy, a few months ago. This will be the first Christmas without him for 13 years. It is hard but I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas..Judy

Um grande abraço, Marie.
Everything looks beautiful, Karen! Sorry you had a flare-up. I am still using my little white houses and bleached trees that I copied from you a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteWhen I "walk" through your home I feel like sitting and enjoying the restful whites and grays. Last year I even turned my drapes backwards and let the linings be my white drapes! I covered my floral chair with a sheet strategically using safety pins and it worked great!! My ornaments and table cloths and decor all flowed with a winter scene of snow as our state prayed for snow in the Sierra's!! This year I'm back to my colorful decor with touches of white. But I look upon all you did, and I relate for mine was done not well...but yes...worth the effort!!!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so very lovey! I just adore the winter wonderland you have created for Christmas time!
ReplyDeleteI simply loving your home. And I can't believe that house came from the dollar store. Loving your decor. Happy Holidays
