K.I.S.S. Side Table

I kept changing this table, adding and subtracting but somehow it was not working for me. Then I realized I was over doing it. For some reason I'm in the mood to have everything pared down and simple. It's been a year full of turmoil for my family so maybe that explains my desire to Keep It Simple Stupid or K.I.S.S. So after a lot of subtracting I came up with this;

I just put little white pumpkins on a bed of moss on top of my mercury glass candlesticks, added some books bound with webbing and  jute, added a couple more pumpkins and called it done.

It's fall without the traditional colors, but it's the best of both worlds to me. The whites and silvers that I love and a soothing palette.

Who knows, by the time Christmas rolls around I might be in the mood to decorate every surface in the house, but for know I'm done. I'll be adding some Halloween touches soon.  My guess is things wont change a whole lot. Don't hold me to that though, after all it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind LOL. I'll be  joining these fun  parties this week,

White and Simple Mantle

I really don't have a mantle, so I use my buffet as a substitute. If you visit me often you know it's constantly changing with the seasons. I decided to try something simple and white so I pulled out my white pumpkins, my rooster, some old books and a piece of luggage that I painted a while ago I added  faux wheat, grasses and berries and put it all together and came up with this;

Later I'll share my side table. That's it for now, Thanks for stopping by. I'll be joining these great parties this week.

Stacked Trays

I think I have a thing for gluing stuff together to make new stuff. I found a set of trays at Goodwill,hated the design but for 5.00 bucks for three nice trays I thought I could do something with them.

Here are the trays in their original strange splendor.

I washed the trays first and then primed them with three coats of primer. It was really hard to cover that lovely aquatic scene (snigger). After priming I had to paint on five, count em... I said five coats of paint. That fish wasn't going out without a fight. I also had three wooden candlesticks  and a wooden ball, sooo I proceeded to glue the candle sticks to the tray bottoms  and glued them one to the other. I used the smaller candlestick on the top tray  and then glued the ball on top of the candlestick to make a finial. Here's how it looks all glued together

I envisioned it filled with all kinds of goodies for the holidays. Since fall is upon us I decided to decorate it  for the season. In retrospect it probably would have been a good idea to add a nail to each candlestick for stability.  It's pretty sturdy, but I wont be adding anything heavy to it. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the candlesticks, but they are those basic unfinished sticks that they sell at the craft store.A few more looks at the vignette.

Thanks for stopping by, I'll be joining these parties this week.
