Table Makeover

Saturday, May 7, 2011

I'm still working on my chair. I've been slowed in my progress because of spring cleaning. It's about 1/4 done. Hang on I'll have a reveal soon. In the meantime I managed to squeeze in a quick makeover on a side table that I've had for many years. Its another piece I bought from Bombay Co. boy I never realized how many pieces I have from that store. I guess it's because I worked in the shopping center where the store was located. My paycheck must have been spent there on the regular. Here is a picture of the table before:

Its a little dinged and scratched and I'm tired of the color. I decided to paint the table in two shades of gray. I had a little Sharkey Gray left over from my  bench  makeover. It wasn't enough to do the whole top, so I added some white and a little black to it. The color came out a creamy gray, I've officially named it Creagrae lol. I bought a sample size of Dolphin Gray by Martha Stewart paints for my living room walls. I love it, but the sample wont go far on the walls so I decided to use it for the legs of the table. I  like the way the two colors look together.

I am well on my way to a whole new room. Even though I'm  working at a snails pace I'm making progress. I bought the lamp at J C Penny on clearance about a year ago along with curtains and shades that are still boxed and packed up. That's how long I've been chipping away at this one space.I bought a slipcover for my sofa also from JCP  on sale, I don't really like it, the fit is a little funky... so I decided to alter it. I wish I had just made it myself and saved myself some dough. I'll probably end up making another one so it will be exactly the way I want it. But now that gardening season is upon us it will have to wait  until fall. I'm getting real antsy now to get this done, but I have to be careful not to overtire myself, hence the snails pace. I'll have the chair reveal soon I promise. So whats new with all of you my friends? I'm joining The Newbie Party at Debbie Doos Blogging and Blabbing and

  12. What a nice redo! Much more fresh and airy now.

Room redos always take longer than I think they will! It's nice to go slowly and really contemplate changes (and get great ideas from other bloggers!!)

I'm popping over from Debbie's party!

  13. Your table looks great! I know what you mean about the gardening season. The garden has to be tended to, watered, and the weeds whacked, etc. Takes time away from my other projects.

  19. The table looks amazing. I have some dark pine pieces that my hubs is reluctant to have painted, but I think we may try it on the smallest of the pieces first. I see so much of that out in blogland & just love how they always turn out. Oh, a "snail's pace" isn't always bad.

  21. I love that you chose to do the legs and top in two different 'shades' of gray! Very striking and I LOVE that lamp! Everything looks beautiful but I agree -- with the weather turning warmer I tend to want to work outside rather than in!

  23. How do you do it, really..it seems so easy..but it's not :)))) I am so into white/grey romantic furniture myself, you did an amazing job there !

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I agree with you, I mean, for me, following is a way to express the fact that I like what I see! It won't hurt to follow, right? It's like saying a formal "hi, I like you" (for me at least...)

    Have a great weekend! :)

  26. I love your table. Wish I had the courage to paint more of my stuff white, but I just can't make myself paint too much wood furniture-I think it's a southern thing!LOL!
