Playing With Flowers

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Hello everyone,

I've been fighting a flare up for the last ten days so my energy is very low. I haven't been able to do any more upholstery. Between the joint pain and the fatigue I just wasn't up to it. Needless to say I'm a little disappointed. But I am starting to feel better. To cheer myself up I made a Spring floral arrangement. I tried something a little different than my usual style. I  like a tight monochromatic arrangement  but this time I added a little height to the top.  I'm still experimenting with design. Generally if I don't feel well the designs show it. I don't think this is my best work, but its okay. I took a few pics to share  but after I weeded through them this is what I could publish.

These are faux flowers. I arranged them in one of my vintage milk glass urns. I know a lot of people don't like faux flowers but I think they can look really pretty when well designed and used sparingly. What do you guys think?  Faux yes or no? I'm joining Kim at Savvy Southern Style for  Wow us Wednesday,

  5. I love faux flowers as long as they are high quality and look real. I cannot afford the real thing in the volume I have all over my house. Beautiful job by the way.

  19. Those are fakes!?!?! I totally thought they were real. The arrangement is beautiful. I'm definitely pro-fake flowers. We used them in our wedding and NO ONE could tell that they were fakes. The 'real touch'/latex ones are my favorite to decorate with since you can just wash them clean if they get dusty.

Beautiful arrangement, love the mix of flowers. I love fresh flowers....but with the amazing faux flowers now, they can look beautiful far longer than fresh and I don't have to do arrangements just before a party. Lovely blog.

  25. Hi,
Your faux flowers are gorgeous, so my answer is "YES". I really thought, from the photos, that is was fresh and real.
You do an amazing job of arranging them.
Have a lovely day and I hope your pain and fatigue are far less today. Do you suffer from CFS or is it Fibremyalgia? Someone close to me has suffered from both for twenty years, they have good days and bad days. My heart goes out to you.
    Hugs, Cindy
