The Wood burner Take Two and A Few Sneak Peeks

Monday, June 9, 2014

Remember when I painted my wood burner the fist time? I was so pleased. Until this happened after we used it a few times,

Clearly that spray paint that was such a pain to use did not do what it promised. It yellowed and peeled even though I prepped the stove according to the directions. Well what to do now? It looked terrible and after painting my living room it looked even worse. Thank goodness for Google. After a little searching I found this product,

It was expensive and stinky,I probably fried a few brain cells from the fumes, but I could tell right away that there was a world of difference between this and the previous product. It brushed on smoothly, was self leveling and dried to the touch in about 15 minutes.  Here's how it looks now

It has a factory like finish now that seems very hard and durable. I also painted the floor tile, I used the wall color which is Distant Gray with a few drops of the French Gray from the vestibule tile mixed in. Here's a before of the tile,

You  also get a little peek of my fresh new paint job and my new window treatment. I bought the curtains from Ikea and the curtain rod years ago on clearance from JC Penney. The curtains let in so much natural light. The house is so The striped pillow cover is from Ikea (old) the other pillows are from Marshalls (also old). How about a little peek at the bathroom progress? Here it is!

The toilet and sink side is mostly finished but you can clearly see the ugly textured wall on the window side

Just wait until you see the before pics, I'm almost too embarrassed to show them. This bathroom was beyond horrible.

There will be more info on the bathroom when we get it all done and I do the final reveal. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to photograph such a tiny space. Thanks for stopping by. I'll be joining these fun linkups this week,

  1. I'm loving all the whites and creams in your home! Sounds like you are doing a lot of painting and renovating...can't wait to see your progress.

  2. The stove looks great and refreshed with the new paint job, Karen! Love the curtains and pillows. Your bathroom has a classic look to it. I have to paint our water closet in the master bathroom and talk about impossible to photograph! Bad enough there are no windows but it is a tight fit. I'm sure it will never make a blog post because of that.

  3. I think I spot a Kohler sink and toilet in your bathroom- that is the same set we put in our powder room. I love it! Your STOVE turned out GREAT!!! Wow- It does look like a factory finish. What a big change. Your house is looking so light and bright, Karen. xo Diana

Thank you Karen for taking the time to visit me, as for your stove I love it and so wish I had one of my own here in my home, love the outcome of its new coat of paint it really added to what it needed to show off its beauty.
