A Fall Table

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

This Fall is the Fall of not spending a dime.  For decor it's all about using what I have and making what I don't. This table was pulled together with things I have on hand and some burlap and canvas roses that I made loosely  following  this tutorial.

I say loosely followed because the tutorial used nice straight burlap ribbon and I used scraps that I cut into strips, not so neatly. Consequently I ended  up making more of a rolled rose on a stick than the folded ones in the demo.

The table cloth is just a length of damask fabric from my fabric stash and the runner is one that I bought from Goodwill a few years ago.The plates were my moms and the bowls are mismatched Homer Laughlin ones that I bought at the thrift store years ago. The pumpkins and gourds are all old stash as well.

The flatware is my everyday flatware. My special flatware is gold and I wanted to use silver for this table. The napkins are vintage doilies and the napkin rings were bought at the thrift store, they were four for a dollar.

The chargers are dollar store ones that I bought last Christmas. The  mercury glass votives were bought last year on clearance from Marshalls. I bought the ball jars when they had the special promotion months ago.

I mixed in some faux roses and grasses  with my burlap and canvas roses.

Blue Ball Jars add a pop of color.

The vintage silver pitcher was also a thrift store find.

The dining room set was my moms and is still rocking it's 70's paint job. It will be looking a little different soon. More on that later.

Thanks so much for visiting me and being so encouraging and supportive. I'm very grateful for this wonderful blogging community. I'll be joining these great linkups this week,

  16. Your table setting really speaks to my soul. The roses are the icing on the cake. I just recently discovered your blog and I am anxious to read all your other posts. Since I am probably old enough to be your grandmother, I love your mother's "70" dining room, but I am anxious to see how you will repurposed it and add your own talented touches.

  21. You have me thinking I need to pull out my thrifted silver tea sets and make something with them. I love the interplay of the refined with the rougher textures on this tablescape. P.S. I bought my set of heritage blue jars today. Can't wait to use them!
