This Fall is the Fall of not spending a dime. For decor it's all about using what I have and making what I don't. This table was pulled together with things I have on hand and some burlap and canvas roses that I made loosely following this tutorial.
I say loosely followed because the tutorial used nice straight burlap ribbon and I used scraps that I cut into strips, not so neatly. Consequently I ended up making more of a rolled rose on a stick than the folded ones in the demo.
The table cloth is just a length of damask fabric from my fabric stash and the runner is one that I bought from Goodwill a few years ago.The plates were my moms and the bowls are mismatched Homer Laughlin ones that I bought at the thrift store years ago. The pumpkins and gourds are all old stash as well.
The flatware is my everyday flatware. My special flatware is gold and I wanted to use silver for this table. The napkins are vintage doilies and the napkin rings were bought at the thrift store, they were four for a dollar.
The chargers are dollar store ones that I bought last Christmas. The mercury glass votives were bought last year on clearance from Marshalls. I bought the ball jars when they had the special promotion months ago.
I mixed in some faux roses and grasses with my burlap and canvas roses.
Blue Ball Jars add a pop of color.
The vintage silver pitcher was also a thrift store find.
The dining room set was my moms and is still rocking it's 70's paint job. It will be looking a little different soon. More on that later.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Karen! I love how your fabric flowers turned out. You've got a great mix here of thrift, dollar store and your own pieces, and it shows how you can put together a pretty table without spending a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty and I love decor on the cheap. You did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Karen! Your roses are fantastic, they give your table a little rustic elegance along with your pumpkins and gourds. I love the splash of blue of the jars. You really have created a beautiful tablescape using what you have on hand. Love that you got the napkins (doilies), rings and charges so cheap! Wow! I think this is just great! :)

Your table is a work of art, Karen! I love how you've incorporated silver into your display. And your bouquet of canvas roses is beautiful combined with the pumpkins. All the different textures make such a lovely Fall table setting.

ReplyDeleteSissie you can make anything pretty! I swear if i landed on a deserted island and lived in a stick house... if you were there, you would be able to decorate it and make it fabulous!

Your table setting really speaks to my soul. The roses are the icing on the cake. I just recently discovered your blog and I am anxious to read all your other posts. Since I am probably old enough to be your grandmother, I love your mother's "70" dining room, but I am anxious to see how you will repurposed it and add your own talented touches.

I love the way you have styled your table. You have decorated it so beautifully for fall. I love the small touches of blue.
ReplyDeleteYou have me thinking I need to pull out my thrifted silver tea sets and make something with them. I love the interplay of the refined with the rougher textures on this tablescape. P.S. I bought my set of heritage blue jars today. Can't wait to use them!
ReplyDeleteYour roses are so fancy from the he burlap strips. I love all the texture and the pretty aqua jars with the candles. The lovely stack of china with the aqua soup bowl is a wonderful addition! Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteI love your pretty table. I especially like your striking blue jars. They are the perfect pop of color. Are they the ones from the anniversary set that Ball put out this year? They are a gorgeous color.
ReplyDeleteI am completely taken with your soft hues, burlap and mix of blue mason jars and mercury glass. What a beautiful setting!
